Hero Arts tags

Here are a couple of simple little tags I made using Hero Arts Stamps. The doll and angel in the Hero Arts Holiday release are adorable. The angel and doll were coloured with Copic markers and then I used Ranger's blending foam and ink for a blended finish. I finished the doll's dress with Ranger's distress stickles for a bit of candy shimmer. The grid background is a journal stamp from Autumn Leaves.

Here's a sneak peek of my 3T's (tips, techniques, tricks) post for the Scrapbook and Cards Today's blog. This is a little project that I had so much fun making and I hope you will enjoy it too. Maybe even give it a try!

Edited: you can see photos of the project at the SCT's blog here at this link!

Quickie tags

The moment I saw these chipboard shapes from My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas collection CUTE immediately came to mind. There are 19 large shapes and a whole bunch of tiny ones.

Use them to make instant cards and tags. I have to leave the house a certain time to do school pickup so I literally had 15 minutes to complete these little tags. Easy-peazy-lemon-squeezy I say! I didn't over think it, I used simple silver string and some sequins for a little bling. Package them up and you have an instant 'lil thank you gifts.

Calendar album ideas

I created a baby boy calendar album kit, these kits were sold out in a matter of days. We don't recreate the same kit twice, so once they are gone they are gone. I thought I would share the pages and hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration. We still have the Maya Road calendar sheers but they are not marked specifically with 2010 title at the top as seen in the photos. The calendar sheers do represent 2010 so if you've been thinking of calendar gift albums, definitely drop by and pick some up. The calendar sheers are also terrific to add to your pages for that finishing accent touch. Highlight the actual day with a little dew drop or sequin.

I also like to use the Maya Road journaling sheers, I love the weight of them and they make great accents, write on them with a sharpie or add photos directly to them.

I apologize for the one vertical photo...have uploaded it twice and have no luck in rotating it back.

Z fold album

I previously talked about the creative possibilities now that the store is carrying 12 x 18 inch 100 lb cover cardstock. I see all sorts of wonderful folding and mini-album projects with this over-sized cardstock. I had so much fun creating Z albums shown here. I named it a Z album because looking at it from the top you see the letter Z. The basic structure of the album base is is achieved by scoring a 6 x18 inch long cardstock in thirds. Then you cut your pages to 6 x 10, fold them in half and staple them in the opposite creases and you have instantly created an album of 14 pages.

The birthday album is created by starting with a 3 x 18 inch base and the pages cut down accordingly. I wanted it to be small to fit into Emma's tiny little hands. The album pages and embellishments all come from K& Company's Scrap pack themes. These packs are wonderful, there are 8 pages and lots of bits adding up to 128 pieces in total. The store also has a vacation scrap pack theme...anyone thinking mini vacation album.

The wedding album was a class I recently taught and we had a ton of fun putting it together. The ladies created a mini pizza box to hold the finished album. Again, we started out with 12 x 18 inch cardstock and cut out a template from there.

I have a few other ideas rolling in my head and I can't wait to show you.

3D House Card

I've been asked a few times to re-post my instructions on how to make a 3-D House shape card. This tutorial was posted last year on SCT's blog so I thought I would save you some time searching the archives.

You will need a scor-pal tool. If you don't have one yet, think about add it to your Holiday wish list. It's a must have if you are making any project with lots of folding. You'll love it!

Photo A
- Take a 6 x 12 double-sided piece of patterned paper and score at 3, 6, and 9 inches.
Photo B- Rotate your paper and score diagonally across the square by lining up the opposite points of the square on a vertical score line. Tip: Mark a dot on the bottom of your Scor-pal tool so that you don't confuse which line you are scoring when your paper is turned at an angle.
Photo C- Rotate your paper as shown in the picture and score in the middle at 3 ". All the score lines should intersect at one point.
Photo D- This photo shows all the proper score lines
Photo E- Crease the paper along the diagonal score lines and fold paper as shown.
Photo F- You should now have a house shaped card. Place the card upside down on the Scor-pal tool and score at 1" and 5 ". Stop when you reach the triangle roof. Cut out the small rectangles marked X on each side of the card.
Photo G- Staple, stitch, or use small brads along the middle to pinch the house together. You can cover these when you embellish the card.
Photo H- You have just completed your 3-D house. Have fun embellishing it!

Other themes you could make are housewarming, new arrivals, bbq invites, etc. Have fun!
